Griffin has been driving around with his father’s ashes in the trunk, but his mother is very much alive and is always calling on his cell phone. He is on his way to Cape Cod, where he and his wife Joy are to attend a wedding, The Cape has many memories for Griffin; childhood summer vacations, and it is where he and his wife, Joy honeymooned. But Griffin is struggling with issues of the past, and his own marriage, and he can’t seem to divest himself of his parents, which eventually include carrying his mother’s urn. This is a novel of introspection with moments of great comedy and sadness, and an uplifting ending.
