NewspaperArchive.com Database Available at Hayner Public Library!

googlesThousands of newspapers are now available through an online database that is available at all Hayner Public Library locations! Not only do we have the Alton Telegraph newspapers dating back to 1836, we also have access to many other national and international newspapers dating back to the 1700s!  This newspaper database, which is hosted by NewspaperARCHIVE.com, lists more than 3,000 newspaper titles and tens of millions of pages.  Every newspaper in this archive has been digitized and is fully searchable by keyword and date.

NewspaperARCHIVE.com is the world’s largest archive of online newspapers. Nowhere else can you find such a variety of newspapers from so many areas around the world—and all available in one place, free to use at the library.

Patrons can browse newspapers and read articles written about historical events as they were happening around the world. This database is a great resource for anyone working on genealogy or historical research for a school project, or anyone wanting to reminisce over a particular historical event they witnessed.  Copies of individual articles or whole pages can be printed for a small fee.
