The Hayner Public Library District is going eco-friendly. In the past, when you visited any of the three library locations, you were offered a plastic bag to carry your library materials. These bags were made of a very thick grade plastic to be strong enough to hold multiple library items.
The last several times the library has had to restock the bags, there have been conversations about whether they were an expense the library needed to keep incurring. Both the cost of the bags and the shipping and handling continue to increase substantially. We have decided that now is the time to “go green.” We will no longer offer you plastic bags to hold your library materials.
Starting in early 2013, we will offer woven bags for purchase. The purchase price will be $1.00. The bags are strong and roomy and will serve a myriad of purposes for you. We hope you will embrace this change. The rising cost of providing plastic bags is becoming prohibitive, and the new bags are certainly much friendlier to the environment.
