Kids
The Hayner Public Library District prides itself on the collection of materials and programs made available to the youth of our community. Our primary collection is housed in the historic Hayner Building located at 401 State Street in downtown Alton. An additional collection of youth materials is also available at our branch location in Alton Square Mall. Our collections include fiction and non-fiction books and videos for all ages, DVDs, and CDs, puppets, learning toy kits, and Leap Pad interactive books and cartridges, just to name some of our items. We also have an extensive and growing parent/teacher collection.
Services offered include Lapsit, Preschool, and Evening Story Times and After School Fun including arts and craft sessions and holiday parties. Special performers and speakers appear from time to time as well. Our Dial-A-Story is a favorite with younger library customers. Children can dial 462-TALE (8253) any time of the day or night and a prerecorded story will be read to them.
For more information please call our Youth Services Department at 462-0677 or our Branch Library at 463-1276.
