Deborrah Wyndham: Women in Ragtime Music

Posted December 21st, 2011 in Events

Mar226:30 PM

Deborrah Wyndham is a pianist/composer and singer-songwriter/guitarist whose music spans many genres. Seen on FOX, NBC, and ABC and with over 2,700 past performances, her music appeals to thousands of listeners from all over the world. Ragtime and other forms of traditional jazz inevitably morphed into the popular jazz music of the 1930s and 1940s, which has influenced so many other styles in our culture today. The secret of the rags written by women of the early 20th-century America wasn’t discovered until the 1970s, by Max Morath, well-known ragtime pianist and historian. This is a fascinating, entertaining, and informative account of the music at the dawn 20th century and the women who, behind the scenes, contributed to it.
