Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Library Volunteer

The Hayner Public Library District is a tremendous asset to the community and surrounding area. It is also a wonderful place to make your contribution as a library volunteer. Whether you volunteer weekly, monthly, or for special projects, we welcome your time and talents.

As a valued member of the volunteer team, you will play an essential role as a partner in the library’s mission of “providing resources to lifelong learners.” You will enjoy knowing that you are contributing your time to one of Illinois’s best public libraries.

Opportunities

We offer volunteer opportunities at our Genealogy & Local History Library, located at 401 State Street, Alton, IL 62002.

How to Volunteer

A volunteer application is available at the Circulation and Reference desks. You may also click here to view it online. Please complete this form and return it to the library. A one-week minimum is required to process your application so that the library can fit your interests, experience, and availability for the needed jobs. The library schedules volunteer hours in advance; “drop-in” volunteering is unavailable.
