Do you have Hayner Library materials that got lost under the couch or in the trunk of your car? Food for Fines is an excellent opportunity to return those items to the library and avoid the accrued fines. From Thursday, October 1, 2026, through Saturday, October 31, 2026, patrons with overdue Hayner Library items can pay their fine with a canned food item. The library will donate the food items to Crisis Food Center in Alton. Library materials must be returned with food donations, at least one food item per overdue item. Only Hayner Library materials are eligible. Only non-expired, non-perishable food items are eligible for Food for Fines. Of course, even if you don’t have fines, please feel free to donate items to help others in our community. Fine amnesty is a great way to support critically important community organizations such as Crisis Food Center—and it is also an excellent opportunity to return “lost” materials to the library so that other patrons can check them out. Thank you for your support!
