Hayner patrons! Did you know that a new bespoke wooden puzzle depicting a moment in the history of the area
debuts on the first Wednesday of each month at the Genealogy & Local History Library? Begun in December 2023,
the Puzzle of the Month program continues!
Images for the puzzles come from the Robert K. Graul Photograph Collection from the Alton Telegraph newspaper,
vintage postcards, Alton High School Graphics Club creations, and local snapshots. Typically, the 250-piece puzzles,
crafted by Wentworth Wooden Puzzles with special-cut whimsies, may be completed by an adult in an hour or two.
Displayed with each puzzle is a short history of the image. These one-of-a-kind puzzles are not available for checkout
or purchase; however, patrons are welcome to work the puzzle for just a few minutes or until completed.
Working a jigsaw puzzle requires focus that quiets the mind, increases spatial awareness, short-term memory, and
problem-solving skills, and many other healthy brain activities.
Stop by the Genealogy & Local History Library for a little brain exercise, and learn a bit more about Alton, Godfrey,
and Foster Township.
