During the month of November, writers are encouraged to focus on the length of a work rather than quality, attempting to write a complete rough draft. Nearly 400 novels written during National Novel Writing Month have been published by traditional publishing houses, including Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, The Darwin Elevator by Jason M. Hough, and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

Each Sunday in November, Hayner Library will host a Writers Open House for those who want to participate in the challenge. Feel free to come and go as you please. We will provide a quiet space to write, writing tools, and refreshments; just bring along your ideas!
